Paulo Costa vs. Khamzat Chimaev is one of the most anticipated fights that fans are looking forward to. But this matchup was only teased until now, as fans are still eagerly waiting to see both guys in action. Both fighters were having a contract dispute with the UFC, which is now over.

Both Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev are ready to collide in the octagon, but they are targeting this fight in the middleweight division. Paulo Costa had his last fight in the light heavyweight division, and Khamzat Chimaev was competing in the welterweight division, so both of them made their way to the middleweight fight.

“Borrachinha” before getting the contract with UFC have already shown his interest in facing Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland. He told “I haven’t signed the contract yet but we have reached a deal with the UFC regarding the pay. It wasn’t easy, there was a lot of hard work, and I have to highlight Tamara’s brilliant work here… [The UFC] wants to make sure this Chimaev fight happens at all costs, but I want to make both happen. We’ll see.” while talking to MMA fighting.

The last time Costa was in the UFC Octagon was last August during the UFC 278 event. From the UFC management’s perspective, he was always in talks to face Robert Whittaker, but this fight couldn’t happen.

About his comeback in the UFC, It’s true, but I think October is so long. It is so far.” He continued, “That’s why I was happy when the UFC asked me to fight Jan at 205 [pounds] because it’s much, much less work to cut weight, and it doesn’t affect my weight division at 185 [pounds], so I was sad when Jan declined,” he said, on his rumored fight against Jan Blachowicz.

When Paulo was asked about his rumored match-up against Khamzat Chimaev he responded “I think this fight’s going to happen… I’m asking, I’m bothering the UFC to schedule a fight before [October], like in June.” So fans now can expect that Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa will face each other at UFC 294.

Costa told about the new deal that UFC’s deal was to compete in October in Abu Dhabi. Since UFC needed the big fights for promotion, So he choose not to sign the deal yet. It will be more than a year since Paulo last stepped into the octagon.
