Paulo Costa promises “No Wine” as he heads into electric co-main event fight against Luke Rockhold

Paulo Costa’s last fight left a sour impression on many fans. The fight itself was a 25-minute back-and-forth battle but the week prior, the antics of Costa cost him big time, missing weight and forcing the bout to move up to light heavyweight.
Even prior to that, his fight against Adesanya was a total breakdown of his skills to score the second-round TKO. It was after this loss that Paulo would accuse having a hangover, thanks to the vast quantities of wine he consumed the day before the fight as the reason he wasn’t able to perform.
Since that fight, Costa has promised to stay away from the wine and focus only on his “secret juice. ” Even that got him into trouble as USADA woke him at 6 am on the day of the weigh-ins to take blood samples from Paulo. Costa didn’t appreciate the move, screaming, “F*** USADA” at the scales as he made weight.
Paulo Costa promises to make Easy Work of Luke Rockhold
Jon Anik noticed during the ceremonial weigh-ins that in fact it wasn’t only Paulo that thought the move to be utterly unnecessary, as Dana White supported him in that view. The drug testing agency has already received flak this week for waking up welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at 5 am earlier this week for urine samples.
Anik wrote on Twitter, “Looked as though Dana White just pulled Paulo Costa aside at the ceremonial weigh-in to perhaps acknowledge that he, too, thought the early-morning, mid-weight-cut visit from USADA today was outta bounds.”
Costa responded to this saying all he wanted was to hear, “Paulo Costa Does it Again” in Anik’s iconic voice. However, since it was already late at night in Salt Lake City, a fan worried about Costa’s performance, asked him to go to sleep.
Costa replied making a promise to his fans. It read, ” I’m going man . No wines , be cool im pretty fine and tomorrow will be nice!” The Brazilian promised to be focused until he stepped in the cage and relentless in his pursuit to get his hand raised once in there.
Costa will go up against Former UFC and Strikeforce Middleweight Champion, Luke Rockhold in the coming event for UFC 278. Costa is returning from a 10-month hiatus while Rockhold has been away from the Octagon for almost 3 years.
