Luke Rockhold reveals that Weight-issues were the reason it took so long to book his fight against Paulo Costa

Lately UFC’s one of the elite middleweight fighters Paulo Costa has been struggling with weight issues. In his last fight, Costa asked for last minute changes in the scheduled fight against Marvin Vettori.

Initially the fight was scheduled in the middleweight division. However, Costa couldn’t make weight due to some medical reasons and asked the fight to be scheduled in the light heavyweight.

Many MMA pundits criticized him for his unprofessional behaviour coming to this fight. Costa has been fighting in MMA since the year 2012. So, it is expected from him being a veteran to make weight.

Recently Chael Sonnen mocked why Costa finds it hard to make weight.

“Paulo can’t make weight. Paulo’s not going to make weight. I’m not looking into some crystal ball here. We know as human beings we don’tget smaller with time. We know about the work ethic and training of Paulo Costa. We know that Chael personally has made a very loud and boisterous push to get Paulo out of division completely and just give him a fresh coat of paint, a new start at 205 pounds. Now if I’m wrong and he pulls down to 185, fine, eat my words. But I’m very comfortable telling you guys that’s not going to happen,” said Sonnen.

Paulo Costa wants to fight middleweight fighters with scales off the table

After getting such criticisms and comments from the whole world Costa has finally decided what he wants to do in the future. It is also to be mentioned that his upcoming bout against Luke Rockhold at UFC 277 might also get cancelled according to some reports. So, Costa took the Twitter to write:

Paulo Costa wants to fight the Middleweight fighters at their natural weights. This indeed is an interesting approach towards fighting. Certainly Paulo doesn’t want to torture his body by going through the painful process of cutting to fight in Middleweight nor he wants to fight the light heavyweight fighters who normally weights more than the light heavyweight limit.

However, it won’t be easy for him to convince Dana White for the same. However, let’s see what the boss decides on Costa’s desire.
