‘My fist will do the talking’- Petr Yan sends a short message to Sean O Malley after the announcement of the bout
Sean O'Malley- Petr Yan
O’Malley revealed that he will face Petr Yan at UFC 280, which takes place on October 22 in Abu Dhabi, on ESPN’s DC & RC. A source familiar with the promotion’s operations told MMA Fighting that although contracts haven’t been released, the fight has been verbally agreed upon.
If accepted, it will be Yan’s first fight since failing in his attempt to reclaim the undisputed UFC bantamweight title at UFC 273 in April, where he lost by split decision. After losing the championship to Sterling at UFC 259 in March 2021 by being disqualified for an illegal knee, Yan won the interim title against Cory Sandhagen at UFC 276.
How does Petr Yan vs Sean O Malley stylistically match up?
The two competitors most recent weigh-ins were nearly identical, with Sean O’Malley only weighing one pound more than Yan. O’Malley’s bulkier physique may cause him to weigh a little more on fight night. However, his experience in the octagon and the kind of opponents he has faced since entering the UFC are his biggest advantages.
Yan is significantly shorter than Sean O’Malley, who is 180 cm taller than the Russian at 169 cm. This often implies that O’Malley has a greater reach. Sean’s reach is 183 cm, 13 cm longer than that of his rival.
Petr now has an eight-win and a two-loss UFC record. The defeats were at the hands of the reigning bantamweight champion Sterling, the first of which was a contentious disqualification. After the announcement of the fight, He took to Twitter wherein he stated, “My(fist emoji) will do the talking. Here is the Tweet:-
