Chito Vera won a dominant decision over Rob Font who came in 3 pounds overweight at their headliner for UFC Vegas 53

Chito Vera showed his true mastery of the martial arts in a scrap for the ages at UFC Vegas 53, as he won a dominant 5-round bout against number 5 ranked bantamweight contender Rob Font.

After coming up short on the scales, over two pounds in excess of the bantamweight limit of 135 pounds, many wondered how Rob Font would fare after dealing with a difficult weight cut. This was apparent throughout the fight as Chito would up the antepast the middle point of every round to truly cement his victory.

The pros weighed in with universal praise for the bout. The current champion of the division Aljamian Sterling said on Twitter, “This fight is FUNKING GOOD” adding “Twice now Font lost the RD at the very end. Vera 2-1 going to the 4th.”

Former Champion, Petr Yan also complimentedChito Vera’s performance and said they might meet each other in the cage one day. “Not a bad performance tonight @chitoveraUFC We may share the octagon one day,” said the Russian who will be looking to climb back into title contention himself.

“Ridiculous Pace” Chito Vera and Rob Font receive high praise from Henry Cejudo

Retired two-division champion, Henry Cejudo who relinquished his bantamweight title in early 2020 felt that both Font and Vera were great ambassadors of the bantamweight division. He said, “What an insane pace for 25 minutes! Opportunistic offense from Chito, historic output from Font. What a war! Way to represent the bantamweights!”

Veterans like Jorge Masvidal, Derek Brunson, and Cub Swanson also sang high praises for the fight. Swanson added, “You were violent but patient and a real veteran in there tonight. Congrats homie.” addressing Vera.

Lightweight prospect, Terrance McKinney called Chito, “a monster” and congratulated his management on the victory. Billy Quarantillo, a UFC featherweight pointed out the toughness and never say die attitude of Font saying, “Mannnn rob font so tough, absolute dog fight so far- chiro up going into the 5th,”

All around the fight was a scrap of epic proportions with everyone praising the violence unleashed and the pace maintained throughout the fight. Many already predicted and rightfully so for the fight to win the Fight of The Night Bonus

Journalist Damon Martin also pointed out the significant amount of Damage that Font received. The image alone might warrant a sufficient medical suspension.
