Joe Pyfer is a name that could make plenty of noise in the UFC’s middleweight division. He fought Abdul Razak Alhassan at UFC Vegas 80. Pyfer earned a UFC contract after winning impressively during his appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series. Since then, he has made huge strides as a fighter. Pyfer used his wrestling skills to overcome Alhassan and submitted in the second round.

The first round started with a feeling-out process. Both fighters struggled to find the range while striking. They missed strikes more than they landed. However, Pyfer switched to his wrestling and kept taking Alhassan down. He landed two takedowns in the first round to win it. Alhassan attempted a submission but could not get a hold of Pyfer.

Pyfer evaded a strike from Alhassan in the second round and countered it with a takedown. Immediately, he went for an arm-triangle choke. The grip was too tight for Alhassan to overcome as Pyfer choked him out before the referee stopped the fight. With the finish, Pyfer has finished all his opponents in the UFC. He could become a legitimate threat in the middleweight division if he continues developing as a fighter.
