Rafael dos Anjos is a warrior! 38 years old and the UFC veteran is still winning fights against the highest-ranked opponents. RDA believes he has the privilege to call out a fight as per his wish and rightly so. The Brazilian fighter is ready to run things back with his former rival Conor McGregor.

At UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs Holland, Rafael dos Anjos, a veteran of the sport co-headlined the card against a talented welterweight fighter in Bryan Barberena. dos Anjos proved to the world that he is one of the very few fighters that has continuously fought against the best of the division and is still going toe-to-toe with the cream of the crop.

RDA pulled off an amazing victory against the dangerous Barberena at UFC Orlando via submission in the second round and called out his former rival Conor McGregor for a fight. “I think I have the right to call somebody. And I wanna call out Conor McGregor. 7 years ago I earned this fight, [after] me and Donald Cerrone. He [McGregor] came up the division, we supposed to fight and I broke my foot,” said RDA in his post-fight octagon interview.

RDA then went on to take a shot at McGregor using steroids for recovering from his injury and said, “He has couple months to clean his body of all the sh*t that he’s taking and I will see you in July.” Back in 2016 when the Brazilian was the lightweight champion, McGregor was offered a chance to fight for the second belt against him. However, the fight was scrapped as RDA injured his foot.

McGregor has not fought in the last year and has been recovering from his injury. The fighter is looking to make a return to the octagon and doesn’t look like he can drop back to the lightweight division. RDA vs McGregor was a fight that the fans deserved to see a few years ago, maybe it comes to reality in 2023.

Leading up to this fight against Bryan Barberena, Rafael dos Anjos had the potential to break the record for the most time spent inside the cage in UFC. The fighter was only behind recently retired UFC legend, Frankie Edgar. RDA had to take the fight to the 3:43 mark of the first round to break this record and he went well beyond that.

RDA now is an all-time leader for the most cage time in UFC history. That is some feat. The Brazilian is a true veteran of the sport and has always taken the toughest of fights. With his run as the lightweight champion, the Brazilian is a favorite to etch his name in the UFC Hall-of-Fame. He’s spent more than a decade in the UFC and is still continuing to beat top-ranked opponents.

RDA has fought the best in both the welterweight and lightweight divisions. It is almost as if the pathway to UFC gold in both these divisions has been to get past the Brazilian. He has a record of 31-14 in his professional career. There is no doubt that the 38-year-old deserves to call for a big-money fight against McGregor for his next outing.
