Ramzan Kadyrov settles the dispute between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Khamzat Chimaev after a menacing UFC 280 brawl

Kadyrov has financed the career of many Russian MMA Fighters
Ramzan Kadyrov’s association with MMA and more importantly Khamzat Chimaev has always been a subject that turned off many from the sport. However, a recent altercation between the Chechen sensation and one of Nurmagomedov’s teammates at UFC 280, showed us how deep Kadyrov’s hands are in puppeteering the careers of these two. Kadyrov is the dictator of Chechenya and has always shown a keen interest in training and patronizing MMA across the caucuses.
At UFC 280, shortly after Islam Makchev’s victory over Charles Olivera and subsequently managing to bring the belt back to Dagestan, Chimaev, who had been invited to the event by some among the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi, turned up on his worst behavior. During Makhachev’s octagon interview, he and Abubakar Nurmagomedov could be seen arguing in close proximity before it burst out into an all-out fight. Thankfully UFC Security was quick to separate them. A picture of a disappointed Khabib, climbing up the cage and looking at Abubakar circulated around the internet.
However only two short days after their butting of heads, the world woke up today to realize all their differences had been squashed. While youtube and Twitter would should you a video of the entire crew including Nurmagomedov and Chimaev standing across a table, making amends, it was on Instagram where one found the real reason as to why. Kadyrov had posted a picture to Instagram, showing Abubakar and Chimaev embracing, with his face in the upper left corner.
The war-lord turned dictator had settled their dispute or at least forced them to do so, while on a video call sitting thousands of miles away.“Nerves can be stressed to the limit not only in the octagon, but also outside. Each of the spectators is worried about the athlete, and the fighters experience the same emotions as in the ring. Therefore, it is not surprising that misunderstandings arise at the limit of emotions”, wrote the dictator on his Instagram.
Asking “Ill Wishers” to refrain from commenting and blowing things out of proportion, the dictator declared, “There is no quarrel between Khamzat Chimaev and Abubakr Nurmagomedov – I have made sure of it personally.”
Ramzan Kadyrov’s relationship with Khabib Nurmagomedov
Kadyrov has long been associated with MMA and even owns his own fighting team and gym by the name of Akhmat MMA. A lot of high-profile UFC Fighters have been seen around the gym including Nurmagomedov and even US-based fighters managed by Ali Abdelaziz.
While he seems to keep his distance from the dictator post-retirement Nurmagomedov himself was once the favorite of Kadyrov who even gifted him a luxury car back in 2018.
Kadyrov has taken a deep personal interest in the UFC career of Chimaev, as he’s one of few Chechen fighters to have attained global prominence. This was seen when he undertook his medical expenses during Chimaev’s deadly bout with COVID-19. More so, Kadyrov seems to have personally funded the lavish wedding ceremony of Chimaev earlier this year, which took place in Chechnya.
