Many fans have recently learned that rising welterweight talent Shavkat Rakhmonov was once training under the late Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. A recent video that went viral shows the former lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov coaching Rakhmonov under the supervision of his father.

The Kazakh mixed martial artist has taken over the UFC by storm. Fans have begun to call him “The Truth” of the welterweight division. The fighter with 17 wins and 17 finishes was once cornered by the great Abdulmanap. The video posted on social media has gained a lot of attention following Shavkat’s UFC 285 win.

Abdulmanap was known for producing several mixed martial arts champions. His son Khabib Nurmagomedov and current lightweight champ, Islam Makhachev are two of his most successful students. Fans discovering Rakhmonov was also molded by Abdulmanap has only added more respect to the late coach’s name.

Khabib’s father used to corner the undefeated fighter in his early days of fighting. Shavkat is now 17 and 0 in his MMA career with a finish record of 100 percent. Check out the video of Khabib training with Shavkat.

Rakhmonov blew everyone’s mind after his stunning victory against veteran Geoff Neal at UFC 285. The fighter choked out his opponent in a violent fashion and kept his finish streak alive. The welterweight fighter is now close to a title shot and is confident he will become champion.

The ‘Dagestani Takeover’ has now become a common phrase in the MMA world after several elite UFC athletes fought out of that region. Shavkat, who is also from Central Asia is believed to be the future of the welterweight division. Fans call Abdulmanap’s legacy “MMA Heritage” in reaction to the video.

Shavkat is now eyeing a shot against a top contender and wants to get his title shoot at the earliest. UFC President Dana White also mentioned in the UFC 285 press conference that the sound of Colby Covington vs Shavkat Rakhmonov is “fun”.
