“We’re knocking big doors next” – Rising lightweight Jalin Turner believes he is close to title shot
Jalin Turner believes he is close to a title shot
Lightweight prospect Jalin Turner doesn’t believe he is too far away from a potential title shot. The 27-year-old fighter believes he has been delivering solid performances that could earn him a title shot in the near future.
Jalin Turner is currently ranked at #14 in the UFC lightweight division and is only 27 years old. The fighter has been with the promotion since 2018 and has had some exciting performances inside the octagon. The former Bellator MMA fighter has turned a lot of eyes with his recent wins and Jalin believes that could really help him get a title shot in the near future.
Jalin is 13-5-0 in his professional career and is coming off a win against the violent Brad Riddell at UFC 276. The fighter predicted a finish in the first round and actually pulled it off by defeating the Oceania fighter within the first minute of the fight via submission. Turner is currently on a five-fight winning streak and believes he is worthy of a fight against a top contender in what is a very stacked division. In a recent episode of the MMA Hour hosted by Ariel Helwani, Turner talks about his future in the lightweight division.

Jalin Turner believes he is only “one statement” away from fighting the big guns
When Ariel Helwani asked Turner when he believes he will land a title shot, the 27-year-old said that it all depends on his next opponent. “If I beat one of these older heads in the game, I think I’m pretty much knocking on the door,” said Jalin talking on the MMA Hour Show. “I’ve already made five statements this far, I just need one more. I keep telling myself, ‘Just one more, just one more, the next fight is it, it’s going to open even more doors.'”
Jalin went off to a shaky start when he first came into the promotion as he accumulated a record of 1-2. However, since 2020, the fighter has not lost a bout and has finished all of his opponents inside the octagon. The fighter also has a tremendous physical advantage. He stands tall at a height of 6’3′ and does not cut a lot of weight to make 155 pounds.
“So yeah, next fight. Next fight we’re going to be knocking on big doors and depending on who it is, we might be getting that title shot sooner than expected,” said Jalin Turner optimistically on the MMA Hour Show with Ariel Helwani.
