Bo Nickal is considered a phenom. His fights on Dana White’s Contender Series had people glued to the edge of their seats, however long they lasted.

His recent fight against Donovan Beard, which won him a UFC contract showcased the depth of his skill. Already an accomplished wrestler, Nickal looked outstanding as a fighter inside the octagon. He finished the fight within 53 seconds via submission.

Since, he has called out a plethora of fighters – including Khamzat Chimaev, and surprisingly, Logan Paul.

Someone who understands hype trains better than most is Sean O’Malley. Billed as the fighter who would inevitably become champion, the UFC took the slow route to stardom with him. He has now spoken about Bo Nickal calling out big names at such an early stage of his career.

He said, “They obviously knew I was going to be a superstar and I am – look at me now. He’s got a lot of confidence – young, stud. I’d say just trust the ride, trust the UFC. But that’s not even that bad of a statement.

Continuing, he said, “He probably won’t fight on some sh*t card. They’re going to put him in a spot to where a lot of people are going to see him.

It seems like Sean O’Malley is bang on the money with his advice for Bo Nickal trusting the UFC’s matchmaking.

Quite soon after he beat Beard, Nickal was booked to fight Jamie Pickett at UFC 282. The event will be held in the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas. The card is rumoured to be headlined by light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka and Glover Texeira.

To be precise, fighting on the DWCS doesn’t entail fighting in the UFC. Fighters battle it out in the competition and the top performers are awarded contracts to fight in the promotion.

Heading into the bout, the debutant Nickal takes on a tough challenge in Jamie Pickett. Both of them are matched in height, but Nickal is eight years younger. Pickett, also, is coming off of consecutive losses to Denis Tiuliulin and Kyle Daukaus. While Bo Nickal hasn’t fought in the UFC yet, his official MMA record stands at 3-0, having featured in Jorge Masvidal’s promotion, iKon Fighting Championship; while Pickett holds a 13-8 MMA record.

The headline of the card is under speculation as the next PPV event, UFC 283 will be held in Brazil. Glover Teixeira is Brazilian, so having him fight in front of a packed Rio crowd will be a treat for everyone.

The bigger news surrounding UFC 282, however, is the likelihood of Jon Jones returning. If he does indeed return to face Stipe Miocic, then UFC 283 will host the light heavyweight championship instead.

Being the last PPV event of the year, quite a few interesting bouts have already been agreed on the UFC 282 card. Darren Till makes his return against Dricus Du Plessis, Jairzinho Rozenstruik takes on Chris Daukaus and Robbie Lawler fights Santiago Ponzinibbio; to name a few.

Whatever be the case, UFC 282 will be the perfect opportunity for Nickal to show that he is more than just the hype.
