“It’ll age you quick” – Sean O’Malley cautions Paddy Pimblett against DESTRUCTIVE WEIGHT-GAIN between fights

Sean O'Malley (L) and Paddy Pimblett (R).
The status of MMA in the UK is the brightest it has ever looked. Leon Edwards has defeated the pound-for-pound king to be Champ and Liverpool’s own Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann are selling out the O2 Arena on their own.
Calling Paddy Pimblett enigmatic is falling short of words that describe his ever-so-colorful persona. He mixes it up – last month, we saw a more emotional and serious Paddy in the post-fight interviews, paying respect to the deaths of a young child who he knew, to cancer; and his close friend, to suicide. Amongst all the turbulence, Paddy found it within him to deliver, and to that end, deliver big. That is the mark of an elite prizefighter – knowing when to put the foot on the gas and knowing when to release it.
After his post-fight octagon interview, calls to UK suicide hotlines rose, with more men willing to ask for help because of what he said about suicide prevention and men’s mental health.
In so much admiration and talk of what he does well, one must not fail to mention his fighting. People doubted Paddy’s resolve against a good fighter like Jordan Leavitt, whose strategy entering the fight week was to get within the scouser’s head. However, he neutralized Leavitt’s wrestling and choked him out, before fulfilling his promise of teabagging him.
“I would love to eat with him” – Sean O’Malley brings out a lighter theme when discussing Paddy Pimblett’s weight gain

Paddy Pimblett does a lot of things right, but one glaring weakness of his is his lack of discipline between fights. Pimblett is notorious for ballooning up in weight, sometimes touching as high as 205 lb. This is shocking, given that he fights at 155 lb. Essentially, Paddy has to cut around an odd 40 to 50 lb. in a short period of time.
Multiple pundits and fighters have cautioned him against this lack of discipline, including Alexander Volkanovski and Chael Sonnen. These words have seemingly had no effect on the young fighter, who even joked in a video, saying “GSP said I’m not fat!” Now, however, “Suga” Sean O’ Malley has joined the ranks of those asking him to mend his ways and pay attention to diet, saying “It’ll age you quick!”
Discussing the issue with his co-host on his podcast, “Suga” said of Paddy that “Now he’s making good money, travelling to the United States, going to LA, eating all that s***.” Sean O’Malley is bang on the money when it comes to the latter half of the sentence, as Paddy Pimblett was seen on his socials enjoying the famous San Diego cuisine.
On a lighter note, he also said, “I would love to eat with him.” Well, O’ Malley also mentioned the elephant in the room – the ice-cream eating competition between Paulo Costa and Paddy. Paulo has called Paddy out, but it seems like Paddy is yet to respond.
Paddy Pimblett is currently not booked for any fights in the near future – unlike his close friend Molly McCann who fights at MSG on the 12th of November. Who would you like to see Paddy face next? Let us know in the comments section down below!
