Sean O’Malley secured the UFC Bantamweight championship by defeating Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 on August 19, 2023, in Boston, Massachusetts. His victory was particularly remarkable considering that many underestimated his chances of getting past Sterling.
However, O’Malley proved all of his haters and doubters wrong and delivered a masterclass knockout finish in the second round of the fight. The incredible win not only gave the fighter the bantamweight belt but also put him in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings. O’Malley is currently in 8th place in the P4P rankings.
But O’Malley being the character he is took this opportunity to make a joke about his rankings and in a tweet he wrote, “Suga State Athletic Commission official P4P ranking just came out. Truly humbled and honored to be #1. Dream come true.”
‘Sugar’ has sarcastically revealed that he’s humbled to be the #1 in the new P4P rankings. O’Malley is now above fighters such as Aljamain Sterling, Alex Pereira, Max Holloway, etc. on the list.
