“A million dollars a fight”- Sean O’Malley plans on making some big moves in the near future
Sean O'Malley
UFC bantamweight and potential megastar Sean O’Malley is getting closer and closer to raising the benchmark of stardom a UFC fighter can have and on the way, even exceeding Conor McGregor’s star power. O’Malley, who last fought at UFC 269 when he secured a first-round knockout of Raulian Paiva is now looking forward to fighting a #10 ranked contender in Pedro Munhoz on July 6 at UFC 276.
O’Malley is one of the most promising rising prospects right now in the UFC with wins over the likes of Paiva, Kris Moutinho, Thomas Almeida, Eddie Wineland, and many more. O’Malley is a huge name outside of the fight business as well since he has a huge fan base on the famous streaming platform Twitch and is known for media appearances here and there such as appearing for the FULL SEND PODCAST, hanging out with rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, and many more.
Even though O’Malley is exceptionally talented, and he sees himself fighting for the belt sooner than later, he hasn’t faced anyone from the top 10 yet, many fans accused him of picking easy opponents, and O’Malley never backed away from taking responsibility for his actions. He accepted the fact that he is trying to fight the easiest opponent for the most amount of money, and he’s only fighting top-ranked contenders if the UFC decides to pay him accordingly.
“Whatever I’m doing, it’s working”- Sean O’Malley is confident about becoming the next megastar of MMA
O’Malley recently appeared on ESPN’s DC & RC show, and he revealed some interesting conversations he had with the UFC, he said, “I actually recently sat down with the UFC, re-signed with them, and I had a great conversation with Sean Shelby. I go in there, and I say, ‘Hey, I want to make this amount of money. How do I do that?”
“What do I need to do as a business partner to the UFC to end up making the amount of money I want to make?’ For me, I want to get to a point where I’m making a million dollars a fight. Obviously, I’m not there right now, and that’s not what I’m expecting to make against Pedro, but that’s where my mind’s at,” O’Malley added.
Lastly, he concluded by saying, “Obviously I’m doing what I need to do inside the UFC. I’m putting people’s lights out, and I’m bringing eyeballs to the sport. What can I do outside the UFC to make more money, but I haven’t beat a guy in the top 10. I haven’t even beat guy in the top 15, and I’m balling out. So whatever I’m doing, it’s working.”
