Sean O’Malley is the new UFC bantamweight champion. However, he has already set his sights on a potential crossover matchup. Following his victory at UFC 292, O’Malley publicly expressed his desire to enter the boxing ring against Gervonta Davis, the reigning WBA lightweight champion. A fight between Sean O’Malley and Gervonta Davis could set the PPV on fire.

Gervonta Davis has remained silent regarding the callout. However, his coach, Kenny Ellis, publicly lashed out at O’Malley. Ellis boldly proclaimed, “Tank would whoop his a**, in the first round,” making it clear that he believed Davis would dominate the UFC champion. Ellis further argued that any top-tier lightweight boxers possess far superior boxing skills compared to O’Malley.

In response to Ellis’s confident claims, O’Malley took to Twitter with a hint of humor, stating, “Lolz dudes 5’2”. O’Malley appears confident, not just in his striking abilities but also in the physical aspects of the matchup. With a professional record of 17-1, Sean O’Malley has demonstrated impressive capability in the octagon. He is confident it would translate well into his fight against Davis in the ring. He also has prior experience, having secured a first-round TKO victory in 2016.

Meanwhile, Gervonta Davis boasts an unblemished record of 29 wins, 27 of which have ended in knockouts. O’Malley’s callout to Davis is not a spur-of-the-moment decision. He has targeted Davis for quite some time. Despite Davis’s silence, O’Malley remains hopeful, recognizing that the UFC will support such crossover events, provided they generate sufficient interest and excitement.
