Sean O’Malley is one of the biggest draws in UFC’s bantamweight division. He is one step away from achieving the bantamweight gold and raising his stock even higher. While O’Malley is the confirmed next in line for a title shot, he also wants to try his hand at boxing. In an interview with GQ Sports, Suga Sean revealed he would like to have a boxing match with either Ryan Garcia or Gervonta Davis in the future.
During his interview with GQ Sports Sean O’Malley listed 10 of the essentials he can’t live without. While describing gloves as one of his essential items, O’Malley touched upon the subject of boxing. He praised the recent trend of celebrities and MMA fighters turning towards boxing. O’Malley also added the recent trend was good for the sport. Sean O’Malley himself is very well known for his elite striking inside the Octagon. Due to this skill set, he believes he could give top boxing contenders a run for their money. According to Suga Sean, he wants to have a boxing match similar to Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather.
“If I ever do a boxing match, I think it will be similar to like when Conor fought Floyd. When it’s the PPV king in the UFC versus another PPV king in boxing. Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis those are the two guys that I can see myself potentially boxing in 5-6 years,“ said O’Malley in his interview. While Sean O’Malley is a big draw for UFC, he needs more time and fame to materialize his boxing match.
While it would be fun to watch O’Malley fighting top boxing contenders, he is focused on the UFC gold for now. Sean O’Malley is the next in line to fight Aljamain Sterling and a step away from having the UFC gold within his reach.
