“He couldn’t handle himself,” Sean O’Malley’s fight record CRITICALLY ripped by Marlon Vera’s brutal assessment
Marlon Vera vs Sean O'Malley
Marlon Vera is a simple man with simple conclusions to anything you ask him, even if it’s about a highly exciting match between 2 elite bantamweights. Vera is the #5 ranked UFC bantamweight who has wins over the likes of Dominick Cruz, Sean O’Malley, Frankie Edgar, Davey Grant, Rob Font and many more. Vera is the first UFC fighter from the Latin American nation of Ecuador and is also the first Ecuadorian to have headlined a UFC event.
In an interview with Submission Radio, Vera talks about his reaction to Cory Sandhagen’s call out of him, his grandfather’s influence in his life, how a fight against him vs Sandhagen will play out, Jose Aldo’s retirement, prediction of Aljamain Sterling vs TJ Dillashaw and much more. In the midst of all, Vera also talked about how Sean O’Malley vs Petr Yan will take place at UFC 280. Vera had some sharp criticism for O’Malley’s fighting career so far.
“The only two fights that the guy has faced in his life, he got knocked the f**k out in one and in the second one he poked the guy in the eyes. He couldn’t handle himself and honestly, before the eye poke happened in the Pedro Munhoz fight, it’s not like he was doing something crazy, he wasn’t even like he was kicking his ass… it’s hard to think he can do crazy things…” said Vera eventually assessing the result of the fight to depend on how seriously Yan takes O’Malley in the training room.
More fights on the UFC 280 main card featuring Sean O’Malley
UFC 280 takes place next month on October 22, 2022, in Abu Dhabi. The fight is headlined by a lightweight title fight between former champion Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev. In the co-main event, UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling will defend his title against former champion TJ Dillashaw. Both the fights have already made their build-up stories of bad blood between both the pair of fighters.
In the rest of the card, O’Malley, a #12 ranked bantamweight in the UFC will fight Yan, the former UFC champion in a fight that seems to differ at levels on paper but is super close for the fans who are already in awe of O’Malley’s striking. Welterweight grappling machines Belal Muhammad and Sean Brady are going down in the prelims. Beneil Dariush will return inside the Octagon after a 17-month layoff when he will face ATT prospect Mateusz Gamrot.
