Sean O’Malley’s First Fight Without Weed: Find out about the UFC Star’s long-lasting relationship with marijuana
O'Malley is a regular consumer of the drug
Sean O’Malley will go through 2 of the biggest challenges in his professional career this weekend. The more obvious one is certainly the former champion, Petr Yan while the one looming in the background is the utter lack of weed in his system.
O’Malley who will be competing in Abu Dhabi this weekend will have to go through his first fight without having marijuana in his system as all forms of the herb and its by-products are banned in the country. Moreover, this will be the first fight on his record where he competes outside the United States.
O’Malley has build his brand around his laid back personality, primarily rooting from his consumption of marijuana. He has advocated for the product multiple times calling it, “one of the best medicines on this f***ing earth!”
While we cannot estimate the exact amount of the substance he consumes on a day-to-day basis, O’Malley has all but confirmed he’s a regular user of marijuana. In this, he’s accompanied by his head coach, Tim Welch who also is a regular user.
In fact, in his first-ever UFC appearance, he was co-signed by one of the biggest ambassadors for Marijuana on the planet, rapper and entertainer, Snoop Dogg. Snoop was on the commentary team when O’Malley made his debut on the DWCS.
Immediately after his KO victory over Alfred Khashakyan, Sean O’Malley was invited back to the rappers trailer where he got to smoke up with the international icon. Describing the experience he said, “I was puffing and passing, trying to keep up, and they had a TV in there playing highlights of my fight, so were watching that and smoking, it was so much fun. It was only like 20 or 30 minutes, but it was a good time and a memory forever.”
Sean O’Malley’s financial investments in marijuana
Apart from being a regular consumer, O’Malley also invests in weed-related businesses, even introducing his own strain of Marijuana named the, “Suga Show OG”, a customized strain that’s a mix between Lemonhead and OG92. He released the strain at the UFC 222 afterparty.
Apart from this he also holds an ambassadors role for Hempworx, a company that focuses on the recovery aspect of marijuana. Along with this he also has a brand deal with King Palm, a producer of natural smokable rolling papers.
