After an electrifying press conference boosting the anticipation for UFC 292, Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley finally locked eyes in front of the cameras. Meanwhile, a video of Sean O’Malley made rounds on social media that captured fan interest.
This marked their second face-off since Sterling’s triumph over Henry Cejudo at UFC 288. The atmosphere was just as charged as before, with the champion and the challenger exchanging fiery words. However, a video of Sean O’Malley imitating famous singer Miley Cyrus caught many by surprise. Sean was jumping and rolling around, imitating the famous Hollywood singer.
Throughout the press conference, Sterling relentlessly targeted O’Malley, provoking a chorus of boos from the pro-O’Malley crowd. While the bantamweights closed the gap between them, security remained on high alert, but no physical altercation ensued. The tension between the two remains at an all-time high.
Leading the charge in the bantamweight division is Aljamain Sterling, reigning as the current champion. Ever since clinching the title, he’s taken on the division’s most formidable contenders. He’s set to face off against Sean O’Malley in Boston for his fourth title defense. This bout will main event the UFC 292 PPV. The bout has generated significant buzz and anticipation ahead of the PPV.
Aljamain Sterling questions Sean O’Malley’s credibility ahead of UFC 292
Aljamain Sterling believes Sean O’Malley’s track record remains ordinary and pledged to expose the truth. O’Malley earned his title shot by clinching a close split decision victory over Petr Yan, and prior to that, he had a No-Contest bout with Pedro Munhoz.
Notably, they are the only two ranked opponents O’Malley has faced. Sterling believed O’Malley’s reputation remains invalid, and his record does not hold up to scrutiny. Additionally, “Funk Master” asserted that the caliber of opponents provided by the UFC has contributed to O’Malley’s undue hype. O’Malley did not fight any formidable opponents, unlike Sterling.
Sterling said, “He is taking down the teacher’s pet hype machine.” He is confident that O’Malley’s illusions will shatter once they enter the arena. As Sterling emphatically puts it, “The countdown is on,” underlining the imminent showdown. The TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, will host this massive event. It will be the first time UFC has returned to Boston since 2019.
