“Don’t want to see cats fight…want to see lions fight,” Controversial UFC champ Sean Strickland draws parallel between WNBA and women fighters in unfiltered rant

The MMA community is akin to Sean Strickland berating and opinionating his peers. Nevertheless, ‘Tarzan‘ doesn’t mince his words regarding women’s MMA. Strickland squares off with South African Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297. Ahead of the title defense, he once again fired shots at the female fighters and WMMA.
Mayra Bueno Silva faces Raquel Pennington for the vacant bantamweight title on the fight card. During the UFC 297 media day, Strickland trashed a reporter for asking him questions about the LGBTQ community. Moments later, Strickland made his feelings clear on women fighting in the UFC. This is what he said:
Here's the thing guys - WNBA...they are not gonna be offended when I say this...WNBA/NBA...Who watches what, who makes more money? Women's MMA, I don't like to watch it... I don't think most people like to watch it. If the female's MMA were to separate from the male's MMA, no one's gonna watch this sh*t! It was what it is...there's a vast difference between men and women...the fact of the matter is any one of you f*cks can beat our co-main events in a fight. I'm not saying you cannot sit there and f*cking enjoy it, but I'm not gonna sit there and watch two little cats fight. I wanna see lions fight...Sean Strickland via UFC 297 Media Day
Strickland is a man without a filter. He will always speak his mind, no matter who he talks to. In the past, Strickland said he preferred the women to go back into the kitchen. The comments he made at the media day will likely attract criticism from feminists. However, Strickland will not tone down anytime soon.
The middleweight champion mocked the Canadian government, women, and some journalists in the media day appearance. Many detractors would rejoice if Strickland lost the middleweight title to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297.
A brief recap of Sean Strickland dissing women’s MMA
Sean Strickland makes his maiden title defense at UFC 297 this Saturday. He faces a formidable Dricus Du Plessis in the main event. Also featuring the card is the women’s co-main event for the vacant bantamweight gold. Conversely, ‘Tarzan’ was not quite acclimated to the affair. Here’s a brief history of the fighter dissing upon the bubble of women’s MMA as a whole.
Last year, Strickland mocked former UFC fighter Paige VanZant’s claim of making substantially more as an OnlyFans star. His views on the dark reality behind women’s MMA have garnered much attention. He said Vanzant was signed because of her beauty and not skill. Check out some of the reactions from Strickland on women and women’s MMA.
UFC’s former women’s flyweight sensation Valentino Shevchenko also took offense to this. Later, though, they amicably mended things and agreed to a range day shootout, putting a new spin on their differences. Despite getting negative reactions, Strickland refuses to tone down or bend the knee to the woke mob.
