Russian fighters are heavily dominating the fighting scene in the world of MMA. With fighters like Khamzat Chimaev and Magomed Ankalaev reaching the top and fighting ranked fighters, only goes to showcase the potential Russian guys carry. UFC middleweight fighters Sean Strickland and Chris Curtis talked about the same phenomena in their newest podcast.
Controversial fighter Sean Strickland has joined hands with his teammate and sparring partner Chris Curtis to launch a brand new podcast. ‘The Man Dance’ with Sean Strickland and Chris Curtis features the duo, giving their opinions in some of the most unfiltered ways. With Strickland already known for his propensity to make insensitive and controversial statements, listeners of the show are in for a wild ride. The first episode saw the duo discussing the occurrence of Russian fighters in the UFC, among many other topics.
Curtis was a bit surprised when he discussed the number of Russian fighters fighting ranked fights out of nowhere. Following this, Strickland narrated a funny story about one of his fighter mates who lost against Abus Magomedov.
Magomedov is a Russian fighter coming off with a dominant win against Dustin Stoltzfus. Magomedov managed to KO the fighter in under 19 seconds to win the bout in a dominant fashion. Strickland, who has previously sparred With Dustin, states that the guy is more or less an average fighter and quit after two rounds of sparring against the ‘Tarzan’. Strickland later ranted about his attitude towards the fight and roasted him hard.
” You do fu***ng yoga, you don’t spar and you think that you doing yoga is gonna get you through a UFC fight,” said Strickland. Sean Strickland will contest against Magomedov next despite the latter fighter having only one win in the UFC. Although surprising, Strickland took this fight as no other fighters wanted to fight him.
Sean Strickland believes a fight with Israel Adesanya is on the cards
UFC middleweight fighter Sean Strickland is one of the few in the division to not face Israel Adesanya. With the ‘Stylebender’ dominating almost every fighter at least twice, the division faced a lack of fresh title-shot contenders. However, Strickland believes that a win over his next opponent would guarantee him a title shot.
Sean Strickland broke his two-fight losing streak after his decision win over Nassourdine Imavov. Prior to his win, Tarzan faced a crushing defeat against former UFC middleweight champion, Alex Pereira and the Killa Gorilla, Jared Cannonier.
Strickland is set to face middleweight fighter Abus Magomedov and believes will fight for the title next after his win. “If this fight goes my way, it 100 percent should be in the cards. I truly believe I should be the one fighting Izzy, but I lost fair and square. I’ll pay my tenants. I’ll get some Ws, but yeah, that one needs to happen,” said Strickland during his interview.
Strickland’s decision to fight Magomedov is a bit surprising since Magomedov is still an unranked fighter with one win in the UFC. However, since his fight with Paulo Costa failed to materialize and no top 10 fighters wanted a shot at Strickland, he chose what was best for him. Meanwhile, Israel Adesanya is looking forward to fighting Dricus Du Plessis, given he wins his fight against Robert Whittaker at UFC 290.
