Sean Strickland’s latest fight at UFC Vegas 76 has received appreciation from the entire MMA community. Even from his former opponent turned training partner, Alex Pereira. The event took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Strickland showcased his skills in the Octagon and emerged victorious with a second-round TKO against Abus Magomedov. This was Strickland’s fifth main event at UFC Apex. He also walked away with a well-deserved “Performance of the Night” bonus for his impressive finish.
Alex Pereira, who had faced Strickland in the past, took the opportunity to congratulate his training partner. Pereira released a clip of himself enjoying a relaxing massage while watching the fight’s thrilling conclusion. In the video, Pereira’s wife asked for his thoughts on the fight, to which Poatan replied, “Did you really expect anything different? “ It became evident that Pereira had expected Strickland’s victory, likely due to their recent training sessions together in Connecticut.
Their history dates back to their clash at UFC 276 in July 2022. Pereira knocked out Strickland, earning himself a chance to compete for the middleweight championship. Pereira delivered a remarkable comeback victory, capturing the belt from Israel Adesanya. However, Adesanya retaliated five months later, reclaiming the championship with a spectacular performance.
The two rivals have become training partners, and are set to face separate opponents in upcoming UFC events. Pereira will step into the Octagon against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City, Utah. ‘Poatan’ now has a new supporter in the form of Strickland who will be there cheering him from the sidelines.
