“Comparing Kratos to jab spammer” – Sean Strickland’s brutal bleeding from eye gets compared to God of War character

Sean Strickland suffered a split-decision title loss to Dricus Du Plessis at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. Post-UFC 297, in the hours that followed, much else has transpired. Du Plessis (21-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) defeated ‘Tarzan’ via split decision (47-48, 48-47, 48-47) to claim the 185lbs gold. The controversial scoring has left many fans heartbroken. Alongside, snaps of the penultimate round have surfaced on social media, which shows Strickland with a gnarly head cut. The picture has gone beyond viral.

Strickland had later nudged that a sudden head butt had caused the gashing wound and impaired his left-sided vision. But despite the MMA bubble and some in the management instigating ‘robbery,’ the fighter has well acclimated to his loss. The fighter even uploaded a heartwarming video on his IG stories.

Fans have reacted to his recent snapshot though. The picture has drawn many comparisons to ‘Kratos’ of the ‘God of War’ gaming franchise. A prime reaction retorted “Glazing is crazy,…. comparing Kratos to jab spammer.” This comes in light of his performance in the title grudge fight. In the round-for-round progression, Strickland had opened up with a heavy-handed piston jab, rocking the opponent.

Du Plessis though, rebounded from the earlier rounds, ultimately winning the bout. The new champion’s multiple elbows and consecutive striking had opened up the ghastly head wound that Strickland could not counter; thus drawing many reactions.

Former champion Sean Strickland lost his middleweight gold out to Dricus Du Plessis, at UFC 297. Both the fighters came to heavy blows and gave it their all. However, the decision went to the South African, which has faced subsequent fan sneering as a controversial scoring.

But even more so, it is the graphic blood-soaked imagery of Strickland that has drawn fan attention. The fighter has drawn a comparison to the famed fictional character ‘Karatos’ who has a bloody mark around his left eye as well.

Kratos, as the moniker would suggest, is a God of war. Hence, he accordingly has unattainable feats as a fighter. Consequently, fans have dissed Strickland for being a jab merchant. In the late rounds, the fighter could not execute definitive move sets to overcome and finish the rival. Although many scored the last round to ‘Tarzan’ his comparison to Kratos is not one fans are too set on.
