UFC veteran and Stockton legend Nick Diaz was banned from the UFC for five years by the NSAC in 2015. Diaz was flagged for the use of marijuana in his fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 183. Dana White on GGN with rapper Snoop Dogg recently revealed why exactly Nick was banned and how easily it could have been avoided.
Nick Diaz, like his brother Nate, is arguably one of the best fighters in the UFC to never win a UFC championship. Over the course of his career, Nick Diaz accumulated a record of 26 wins and 10 losses. Diaz, along with Anderson Silva, was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Silva was banned for a year for a failed PED drug test, whereas Diaz was caught red-handed for marijuana intake and banned for 5 years. Dana White, in his appearance on CGN, revealed how everything could have been avoided by the Stockton fighter.
Snoop Dogg questioned Dana White why the UFC has such a strict policy for Marijuana when instead, it should be focused on steroids and PEDs. White revealed while marijuana does not enhance anything, it acts as a painkiller for fighters. So fighters cannot enter the ring if they have smoked marijuana within the last 24 hours of their fights. White later revealed that Nick Diaz fought three times a year so he would only have to stop marijuana intake for only 3 days.
“He fights 3 times a year, so you can’t stay off marijuana for 24 hours for 3 days a year. He has failed the test every time,” said Dana White. Snoop Dogg, embarrassed and amused, said that it is getting hard to defend Nick Diaz. “It’s hard being your attorney now there,” said Snoop Dogg. Nick Diaz made his return to Octagon at UFC 266 against Robbie Lawler and ended up losing the fight via a third-round TKO.

Nate Diaz made his return to Octagon at UFC 266 against former opponent Robbie Lawler. Fans were highly looking forward to Nick’s return to the octagon after his five-year ban from the UFC. Prior to his return to the octagon, Nick Diaz posted a picture of himself in great shape and with visible abs. This prompted many fans to believe Diaz was still in fighting shape after over 6 years of the layover.
However, Nick Diaz wanted to move the fight to 185 lbs. He also appeared to be in bad shape on the day of his fight. Nick Diaz lost his second fight against Lawler via a 3rd round TKO. Nick Diaz never gave any reason for his weight miss and performance. It was later revealed by his coach Cesar Gracie that Nick had two ruptured discs in his neck prior to the fight. He had no strength during the camp but still wanted to go through with his return.
However, his physical therapist later claimed that his Coach Cesar Gracie ruined the fight camp. ” My guy Nick Diaz was overtrained, stressed, exploited, and displaced. Nick Diaz was not properly handled and taken care of,” said Jose in his post. The situation has not been addressed by Nick ever since, but it looks like Nick is aiming to fight again in 2023. So, hopefully, fans will see him in better shape.
