Israel Adesanya reigned supreme over Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 after 5 rounds of dull action. The fact that this was the third fight in a row, featuring Adesanya with considerably low output wasn’t forgotten by fans and the fight was unanimously panned.

Exacerbated by Adesanya’s constant statements before the fight when he promises to make quick work of his opponents with a flashy finish, fans piled on the champion for yet another decision victory while taking minimal risks.

The reigning champ cruised his way to another title defense for his record books. Despite the amazing dominance Izzy manages to show in every fight, the lack of violence or exciting moments has really tested the patience of fight fans. To make a case in defense for the main event fight, it was never going to be easy to live up to the co-main event where featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski put on a masterclass against his fierce rival.

Adesanya’s arch-nemesis, Alex Pereira took everyone’s attention when he signed with the UFC, after two back-to-back wins in the middleweight division, he knocked out Sean Strickland in the first round of their contest at UFC 276. Alex made a big statement, and fans wished Dana White to give him a title shot so he can beat the f**k out of Adesanya, and save them from boredom.

Many claims Adesanya has reached such a level of perfection where nobody comes close to him in terms of skills, and the sheer difference between their skillsets makes his fight boring. But if you look at the statistics, Adesanya has 2nd lowest finishing rate amongst the current champions, with Carla Esparza being the only fighter below her.

Adesanya recently signed one the most lucrative contract with the UFC, this only makes you wonder that if fans are going to lose interest in his fights, is he going to become no one even remembers?
