Stephen A. Smith gets into an argument with Chris Russo! There is no doubt that mixed martial arts is one of the most thrilling sports in the world. Since the UFC conducted its first tournament in 1993, the sport of MMA has developed beyond means. In the modern era, it is the fastest growing sport in the world.

However, the question that arises is, what makes MMA such a thrilling sport? The answer to this question lies back in our past. Since human civilization can be traced, our ancestors have all fought for their survival.

It can be argued that fighting is something that comes naturally to us. To add to that, the thrill of watching the beautiful techniques from different disciplines is what makes the sport of MMA beautiful. To an extent, MMA provides an answer to which martial art would prevail over the other. At least that is the purpose it was originally started.

The sport of mixed martial arts is loved globally. However, some people do not consider it to be a sport. While there can be several reasons for the same, recently ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith and Chris Russo got into an argument over the same.

The saga between Smith and Russo began when the former praised UFC President Dana White. Stephen A. said that he would vote for UFC President Dana White to be the sportsman of the year in 2021. However, Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo expressed his disagreement over the same.

Stephen A. Smith had none of Russo’s questions. He said, “What do you mean what sport? The multibillion-dollar conglomerate that is the UFC.” Further, Smith credited White for putting up fights fans want to see and said that the same in boxing takes years. Russo, who was in no mood of entertaining Smith’s claim dismissed the UFC as $50 worth of 3-round kicking. He further exclaimed, “That’s not sports.”

Regardless of Russo’s opinion, it is good to see Stephen A. Smith be complimentary of White.
