“The BIGGEST f**king human,” Tai Tuivasa remembers cornering Mark Hunt for UFC 200 against Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar vs Mark Hunt at UFC 200
Tai Tuivasa is a giant in himself since he fights in the biggest weight class on the UFC roster, but some people have managed to surprise him by their size, Brock Lesnar is one of them. Tuivasa is the #3 ranked UFC heavyweight who is coming off the biggest win of his UFC career from UFC 271 when he defeated Derrick Lewis via second-round knockout. The Australian is now scheduled to fight former UFC interim heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane, this weekend.
Lesnar is a WWE Superstar who has been actively and inactively on professional wrestling’s biggest mat for nearly 2 decades. However, there was a time when Lesnar tried his hands on MMA and fair enough to say, he nailed the experiment. Lesnar went on to defeat UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture in just his fourth UFC fight and won the UFC heavyweight gold. Not only that, Lesnar defended the belt twice against Shane Carwin and Frank Mir before finally losing it to Cain Velasquez.
Tai Tuivasa compares Brock Lesnar to be bigger than the islanders who are generally huge people
In an interview with Ariel Helwani for the MMA Hour, Tuivasa talks about his upcoming bout against Ciryl Gane this weekend, his brief back and forth with Jon Jones on Instagram, his wish to fight Jones, his motivation to get the UFC belt in his resume, training in Dubai and much more. In the midst of all, Tuivasa remembers the time he cornered his friend and mentor Mark Hunt for the latter’s fight against former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 200. During the time of the competition, Hunt lost to Lesnar via unanimous decision but the decision was overturned later on due to Lesnar being tested positive for PEDs.
“I was there in the corner of [Mark Hunt] for that fight,” says Tuivasa. Speaking of Lesnar specifically, if the former UFC champion was on Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) or not, Tuivasa said “Oh my god! He was the biggest f**king human I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen some big humans but this guy was, he was meant to be 120 kilos of muscle. Man, this guy was, his back was like a f**king nothing but THIS [opens his arms wide]… whatever he was having… you could definitely see the man was big. And we’re islanders, we’re big people, we gotta cut to 120, but like, he was big, BIG big…”

What do you make of Tuivasa’s assessment of Lesnar’s physique during fighting Hunt at UFC 200? After the result was overturned to a no-contest, Hunt went into a legal battle against the UFC in which he alleged the UFC knew that the former champion was on to something yet still allowed him for the competition. Based on additional allegations as well, Hunt won the legal battle. However, it put a huge dent in the sport of MMA based on the question of how clean was the sport actually because Hunt was fighting the second opponent consecutively in his UFC career who got tested positive after former UFC champion Frank Mir.
