Known for his funny nature and post-fight celebration, fans were excited for Tai Tuivasa’s entry into the marijuana industry. Many athletes, including Mike Tyson and Nate Diaz, have ventured into the marijuana industry. Also, with the recent exclusion of Cannabis from the prohibited substances, UFC fighters indulged in the recreational drug actively.

As for his fighting career, Tai Tuivasa recently lost to Marcin Tybura at UFC Vegas 88. This loss extended his losing streak to four, and his career in the UFC remains concerning. But, now that ‘Bam Bam’ has a business of his own, he might actually consider moving past fighting. However, being only thirty years old and a huge fan favorite, the heavyweight might stick around for a few more fights.

The UFC warned fighters of marijuana use despite removing it from prohibited substances

Since the departure of USADA, the UFC has brought some revolutionary changes to its drug testing program. As such, it removed Cannabis from the banned substance. The substance remained on the banned list of WADA. The promotion overpowered it to convenience to allow the fighters to use the product. However, before UFC 298, the fighting promotion faced a critical issue that posed restrictions on athletes concerning the use of marijuana.

The problem emerged from the CSAC (California State Athletic Commission), which sanctioned UFC events and overlooked athletes’ safety. As a governing body, they imposed penalties under their rules of marijuana consumption. As such, a fighter participating in the state was required to have less than 150 nanograms of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol ) per milliliter.

While this confused the athletes at the time of UFC 298, it only made them aware of the difference in the athletic commission’s rules. As such, even though the UFC has listed cannabis as a banned substance, fighters have to be careful of state athletic commissions’ regulations for marijuana use. It is also important to note that only CSAC imposed this rule. Other states in the US have yet to enforce any such role.
