“Lot of similarities with Khabib,” Team Khabib Head coach explains why fans love UFC GOAT Georges St-Pierre

Georges St-Pierre was one of those fighters that fans always wanted to see fight Khabib Nurmagomedov. Khabib’s coach, Javier Mendez recently talked about Georges St-Pierre and his experience with the UFC legend. Here is what he said:
Javier Mendez recently did an interview with Helen Yee on her YouTube channel. There, Yee asked about Khabib’s potential return to MMA, even if that was for a grappling match with Georges St-Pierre. This was when Mendez revealed his thoughts on St-Pierre. He said:
I met him about a month ago, he was down there. And what a beautiful guy. Humble, humble, humble guy. He has a lot of similarities with Khabib, that guy. A lot of similarities. Super, super nice guy. I can see why people that meet him, love him. And just we have a huge amount of respect for him. Because he gives it back.Javier Mendez via Helen Yee Sports
Javier Mendez is one of the top and most famous trainers in the MMA community. His prodigy Khabib Nurmagomedov became a legend of the sport. Khabib became the UFC champion and went undefeated throughout his career. Meanwhile, Georges St-Pierre was a similar name with a legendary status in the UFC and MMA. There had always been tension and anticipation regarding a possible fight between Khabib and St-Pierre.
However, the potential fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre never happened. St-Pierre later revealed that it had always been a question of timing and that the UFC had tried to make a fight happen. Meanwhile, Khabib retired from mixed martial arts in 2021, less than a year after the death of his father. He has since stayed away from the sport because of a promise made to his mother.
Is Georges St-Pierre making a comeback at UFC 300?
Georges St-Pierre was a former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion. With only two losses in his entire UFC career, St-Pierre made a name for himself in the world of MMA. He is a UFC Hall of Famer and is on the list of the most title defenses in UFC history. Recently, there have been rumors regarding a potential comeback for St-Pierre to the UFC octagon.
However, Georges St-Pierre denied rumors of a UFC 300 comeback. Despite missing the adrenaline of fighting, he revealed that he has not considered a return to the octagon. St-Pierre revealed this during a seminar in Thailand. Meanwhile, UFC CEO, Dana White too shot down the rumors of his possible return at UFC 300.
St-Pierre retired from mixed martial arts after defeating Johny Hendricks. He came back for a title fight in 2017 against Michael Bisping. The two fought at UFC 217 and St-Pierre won the fight after he submitted Bisping with a rear naked choke.
