Legendary boxing trainer Teddy Atlas has given his verdict on possibly the most boring fight in women’s MMA and he has no different opinion than the masses. Last night at UFC 274, former UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza entered a title fight rematch and just like last time, Esparza got the victory, unfortunately in a much less exciting way and possibly the least active fight seen in UFC history.

Esparza defeated Namajunas via split decision and now Esparza is 2-0 against the former champion. The first fight back in 2014 ended in a third-round submission win for Esparza from which she became the inaugural UFC women’s strawweight champion. Now Esparza is the second woman after Namajunas to become the 2-time UFC women’s champion. Namajunas believes she won the fight, but regardless it seems a third fight might happen sooner or later.
Teddy Atlas believes he has finally seen a bad UFC fight with Rose Namajunas vs Carla Esparza rematch at UFC 274

Twitter was obviously gone mad over the fight the moment it was over. Legendary boxing trainer Teddy Atlas who is also an aspiring MMA fan as well was meanwhile invested in watching Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol. Bivol defeated Alvarez via unanimous decision in what was Alvarez’s first-ever stint at cruiserweight. But regardless, of his love for the sport of MMA as well, Atlas watched the recording of Namajunas vs Esparza second title fight.
And it seems that Atlas was no different than the rest of us as well in our reaction. “Was warned about watching the tape on Rose Esparza—Not too many bad UFC fights, this is one! I’ve seen shadow boxing that was more competitive. And exciting. #UFC274 #UFC“ he said on Twitter.
What do you make of Atlas’ take on the co-main of UFC 274? Do you think he is right? Was that the most boring fight of all time that you’ve seen? Do you think the trilogy will be any different? Esparza is having her wedding next week but after that heavenly time, she might need to get back to the board for preparation because the third fight with Namajunas might not be the only thing to happen in the future considering that longest-reigning strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is returning in July to fight a fellow former champion in Zhang Weili in a rematch.
