Throwback to when Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov forgave Conor McGregor for his outrageous actions during the UFC 229 buildup

Abdulmanap and Conor were both a part of UFC 229
Conor McGregor has an elaborate history of feuds with many people within and outside the MMA community. The Notorious has always been outspoken. Be it with a mic in his hand or in front of a packed crowd at a press conference as he takes on one of the UFC’s best fighters.
One of his most famous feuds was his rivalry with Dagestani UFC legend, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Their fight at UFC 229 is still the promotion’s highest-grossing PPV. The buildup to the fight is now legendary for the drama that unfolded. Conor called Khabib a “mad backward c**t” and labeled his father, Abdulmanap, as a “quivering coward.”

However, it seems as if the now-deceased Abdulmanap forgave McGregor for his comments and actions. Nurmagomedov can be seen talking about how he forgave Conor and welcomed him as a guest into Dagestan. “Today I invited Conor to our home. Yes, I made this statement. I invited him as a guest. He can visit Dagestan why not. It’s all in the past, we should not stop there, life goes on. Our religion should show grace not only in words but also in deeds. If he comes you will see that he will be our dear guest.”
Conor McGregor is one of the best promoters in the game right now. And Abdulmanap showed his acumen and grace as a veteran. He understood that Conor’s main goal was to make sure the fight sold well, despite all the drama surrounding it. Nurmagomedov was a true legend of the sport and he truly helped bring about the Dagestani takeover of MMA.

Conor McGregor actually did pay his respects to Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov after he passed away in 2021

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, tragically passed away in 2021 after a battle with Covid-19. He passed away right before Khabib was set to take on lightweight title contender, Justin Gaethje. The undefeated UFC lightweight champion retired after this fight with a perfect 29-0 record. The entire MMA community mourned the passing of the late and great coach.
Among those mourners, was Conor McGregor. In a now-deleted tweet, Conor wrote, “The loss of a father, a coach, and a dedicated supporter of the sport. Condolences and rest in peace, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.” It would seem that Conor did feel that the passing of Nurmagomedov was a blow to the sport.

However, that sentiment would later be contradicted by him. In another deleted tweet he responded to a tweet from Khabib about the Poirier fight. Referencing Khabib’s tweet which talked about the triumph of good over evil, Conor said, “Covid is good and father is evil?” It would seem that Conor McGregor is not over this rivalry yet and still holds a grudge against the Dagestani contingent.
