Jon Jones is not known for being a highlight during press conferences. He is however, revered for his performances within the octagon. Despite this, “Bones” has some great moments from pressers in his long career with the UFC.
One standout moment came when Stockton native Nick Diaz repeatedly heckled him during the UFC Time is Now press conference. Jones was asked a question during by a journalist during the presser. However, as he responded, he was cut off by Diaz who began to address a journalist in the back. “Bones” looked visibly annoyed by Diaz initially, insincerely remarking, “That’s funny.” However, this in no way seemed to discourage Nick who continued to address the person and exchanging pleasantries, saying “Put your hands up. Oh, there you are. How you doing? Now you gotta tell me your whole question.”
This prompted a reaction from Jon Jones who, despite being upset, could not help but crack a smile at the antics of Diaz. He then turned around and asked Nick, “Are you guys done? Are you guys done? Are you done yet?” This hilarious interaction between the two legends, who never met in the cage, owing to them fighting in different weight classes, will go down in the annuls of UFC history as an iconic moment.

The UFC Time Is Now press conference will go down as a historic event. Some of the biggest names in MMA, who would otherwise probably never interact, found themselves sitting a few feet from each other. A few notable names present were Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier, Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor, Anderson Silva, Nick Diaz, Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort among others.
During this presser, in which Jon Jones was promoting his first fight versus Daniel Cormier, he talked about defending his title against the former amateur wrestler. He said he want to surpass the legacies of the legends around him and gave a prediction for the fight, saying, “And still…” then trailing off. Not one to be outdone by his rival, DC fired back at “Bones,” proclaiming, “And NEW.” This drew a huge reaction from the crowd.
And even his future opponent, Jon Jones, couldn’t help but smile and shrug at the perfect response from the former Olympic wrestler. Despite having light-hearted banter like this, their feud would quickly sour. And as all MMA fans are aware of now, the Jones-Cormier rivalry would end up going down as one of the most heated rivalries in UFC history, both inside and outside the octagon.
