UFC heavyweight contender Tom Aspinall has proven himself a worthy challenger for the championship. After being out for almost a year he came back and knocked out UFC veteran Marcin Tybura in a dominant fashion. With his impressive win, he now stands at No.4 in the heavyweight division. He is aiming for the title shot and has called out Heavyweight champion Jon Jones multiple times.

In an interview with MMA Hour which is hosted by UFC journalist Ariel Helwani, Aspinall talked about his advantages over Jones. He said, “He’s fought a lot of quick guys at light heavyweight, but he’s not fought anyone at light heavyweight who is bigger than him, who is super confident has good fight IQ and is not intimate. I’m young and fresh”.

Aspinall considers the fight against Jones a “dream fight”. He has also predicted that he is dangerous from everywhere and that he just needs to catch the champion once. The Briton just returned from a knee injury he faced last year against Curtis Blaydes. He looked confident and focused in the fight and proved himself to his doubters.

He is considered to be one of the most promising heavyweights in the UFC, and is expected to challenge for the title in the near future.

Aspinall called out the winner of Ciryl Gane vs Serghei Spivac for his next fight on his road to the title. He said that he was thinking strategically for his callout after his fight against Tybura. Aspinall already has a dominant win over Spivak and would rather want to fight Sergei Pavlovich.

He also mentioned that it was UFC veteran Michael Bisping’s advice that influenced his callout. He said, “Michael Bisping told me that you should always try and fight the guy who just fought for a title and lost it. That’s what the people want to seem because he’s like the next best in line. So I thought Ciryl Gane just fought for the title, lost it. If he wins. That would be perfect.”

Since the beginning, Bisping has been a strong advocate for Aspinall, saying, “I don’t think we’ve ever seen a heavyweight prospect like Tom Aspinall.” Fans will look forward to seeing the Briton back in the ring soon.
