“We live to fight another day”- Tom Aspinall issues a statement following an unfortunate end to UFC London
Tom Aspinall suffers injury at UFC London
Tom Aspinall thanks all his fans for their support and says it wasn’t his night at UFC London. UFC came back to the UK after two months after their huge success last time inside the O2 Arena. The last time, Aspinall headlined the event against Alexander Volkov which the Brit won via submission.
This time also, Aspinall was featured in the main event against Curtis Blaydes. Considering the popularity of Aspinall in London, the hype around the fight was massive.
However, the fight didn’t go the way fans would have expected. As the fight started both the fighters were looking sharp but during the initial exchange, Aspinall suffered a leg injury and fell on the mat. The doctors rushed to the scene and the fight was spotted. Blaydes was declared the winner via TKO and the main event was ruined by it.
Tom Aspinall issues a message to his fans and followers
After that unexpected turn of events, Aspinall was frustrated and took this opportunity to share his thoughts on social media.
The fighter took to Twitter to explain that it wasn’t the night he expected to be. His training camp and preparations were perfect but some things are not in your control. Aspinall mentioned now it is the time for him to recover and come back stronger. The Brit thanked the UFC medical team for taking care for him and also credited Blaydes for being a true professional. Aspinall wrote:
” Last night wasn’t my night, my training camp in the build up to the
fight has been briliant.
Sometimes these things happen; now is the time to recover,
rebuild and come back stronger!
Wanted to say a huge thank you to the UFC, the doctors and
paramedics that looked after me.
But, also to the fans! For all the messages you’ve sent and
support you’ ve given me, in the build up to the fight and after the
freak injury. You’re all amazing!
Want to thank Curtis for being a true gentleman, it didn’t work
out how we both wanted, but to come and see me after for a beer
makes you a legend in my eyes.
Finally, my team and my family. We all know this is elite sport, we
live to fight another day!
Big love Tom,”
It was surely a very shocking incident and an unexpected one. Fans inside the arena as well as in front of their television screen wanted that fight. But unfortunately it failed to deliver the action and entertainment it promised. However, many fans were also relieved to hear Aspinall not being seriously injured and doing good.
