“Torn MCL, damaged ACL, and torn meniscus”- Tom Aspinall provides details regarding his horrifying knee injury

Tom Aspinall x Curtis Blaydes

Tom Aspinall had high hopes going into the main event of UFC London against Curtis Blaydes. The homegrown hero was welcomed with a huge roar by the British fans but unfortunately, the fight didn’t go as expected. As the fight started, Aspinall landed some good leg kicks and while doing that fell on the ground holding his right knee.

It was clear that the fighter suffered a serious injury and the fight was stopped. The medical staff quickly ran to provide support and Blaydes announced the winner via TKO.

The heavyweight fighter took his official Twitter handle in order to talk about how he’s been doing and what are next plans to get his knee fixed. Aspinall mentioned that he had a discussion with his doctor who told him to wait. According to the fighter, in order to get a correct MRI scan, the swelling will have to decrease which is taking time.

Well it looks like he was finally called for surgery, and he revealed this with a video message from Instagram, he said, “Good morning, everybody. Today is surgery day, I’m in London right now and I’m absolutely starving because I can’t eat before surgery. I have suffered a torn MCL, a torn meniscus, and some ACL damage.”

Aspinall added, “So I’m going to get that fixed today, but just a quick message just to say thank you for all the support. I really appreciate it. I’ve had so much love since the accident, and I’ll see everybody on the other side. Peace out.”

The Brit also thanked the fans to send him well wishes for his recovery and also added he will get his knee fixed and come back stronger. Knee injuries such as that could lead to some serious repercussions with the fighter losing his ability to fight for life, but hopefully, Aspinall would recover well and come back stronger than ever.
