British heavyweight prospect Tom Aspinall is one of the most exciting prospects in the UFC. He returned after a year-long recovery from his injury to put on an impressive performance against UFC veteran Marcin Tybura. He knocked out Tybura in the first round and earned him redemption for losing to Curtis Blaydes the previous year.
Following his impressive victory, British heavyweight Tom Aspinall was asked about his plans for the future, to which he expressed his desire to take on the winner of the Ciryl Gane vs. Serghei Spivac bout at UFC Paris. Aspinall exuded confidence, revealing his intentions to secure yet another triumph against the victor of that fight, setting his sights on the ultimate goal of facing the current champion, Jon Jones. The callout didn’t go unnoticed, as Jones himself responded on Twitter with a simple yet intriguing reply, saying, “Sounds good lol.”
Aspinall was heading back to his locker room when he was shown the tweet from ‘Bones.’ He replied by saying, “He knows I exist, we’re winning, that’s progress, I’ll see him soon”. His wins over UFC veterans like Andrei Arlovski and Alexander Volkov have established him as a standout force in the division. Currently ranked fifth in the UFC heavyweight rankings, Aspinall has achieved notable victories, including the Performance of the Night award five times.
Jones is set to fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 in November, where he looks to solidify his GOAT status. Aspinall has his eyes set on the title and hopes to give Jones a tough match in order to win it. Fans will be looking forward to the fight between the Briton and Bones.
Tom Aspinall returned after facing a “freak” injury

Fight fans were left disheartened when their beloved fan favorite, Tom Aspinall, suffered a setback in his bout against Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night in July 2022. The disappointment deepened when it was disclosed that Aspinall had been fighting with significant injuries, tearing his MCL and injuring his ACL in his knee. These serious injuries necessitated surgery and a lengthy period of recovery, forcing Aspinall to take a year-long hiatus from the octagon.
In an interview with “The Mirror,” Aspinall talked about the fact that he had already contracted the injury in training and had gone into the fight. Aspinall fell to the floor after landing a kick against Blaydes. The British prospect said, “I was literally doing it all with one leg, that’s why I feel so confident moving forward. The close people around me like my dad know that I was doing a lot of wrong stuff before with one leg and still winning“.
Aspinall is one of the most exciting heavyweights, and his first-round knockout win over Tybura proved it to the fans. He has the qualities of a future champion and has his eyes set on the heavyweight gold.
