The main event between UFC heavyweights Ciryl Gane and Sergey Spivak became a brutal one-sided fight. On his home turf, Gane stopped Spivak in the 2nd round via TKO. But a familiar heavyweight face was present in the crowd during the fight. The no.4 ranked contender Tom Aspinall was waiting for his call-out after Gane’s victory.
After the fight, Aspinall, in an interview, spoke about the possible matchup between him and Gane. He said, “I’m not a bully. If he doesn’t want the fight, I’m not gonna force it on him. I wanted to go in the cage, but the UFC didn’t want me in the cage. If he doesn’t want the fight, we’ll see. I know that I am a bad matchup for him. I think that stylistically it’s a good matchup for me, but if he doesn’t want it I understand. “
Aspinall is on the rise in the heavyweight rankings as he eyes a matchup against no.2 ranked Gane. After recovering from a severe knee injury, Aspinall stopped Marcin Tybura in the 1st round of his comeback fight. Reports suggest that Aspinall is in line to fight the winner of Gane and Spivak to earn a shot at the title.
UFC Fight Night was a successful day for Ciryl Gane as he returned to his winning ways after losing against current champion Jon Jones. The Frenchman was really close to the UFC silverware but fell short against a formidable opponent like Jones. Gane is determined to attain another shot at the title to right his wrongs

After going through a disappointing loss against champion Jon Jones, Ciryl Gane took his first step towards becoming a renewed fighter in the UFC. The Frenchman has never disappointed in his home turf, as one of his previous victories against Tai Tuivasa came in Paris. The 2nd round stoppage win against Spivak has put Gane back in the heavyweight spotlight.
Gane’s fluid moments and great striking range allowed him to keep constant pressure on his opponent. The Moldovan could not withstand the attacks, and in the end, he succumbed to the blows. The referee intertwined to stop the contest by granting Gane his victory.
The next fight for Gane could be against British prospect Tom Aspinall. Still ranked no.2 in his division, Gane has Stipe Miocis ahead of him for a title shot with Jones. But a win against Aspinall could guarantee him another shot at the heavyweight crown.
