“LEGENDARY team-up,” Tony Ferguson is down to train with Nate Diaz & Co for his next fight
Tony Ferguson- Nate Diaz and Co
Since California’s best have officially gone down for a scrap against each other, it would be rather cool now to see Tony Ferguson and Nate Diaz cooperate rather than compete now. Ferguson is the former interim-UFC lightweight champion who’s unfortunately on a five-fight skid but is well known and respected in his MMA community for his legendary 12-fight winning streak, that included wins over the likes of Kevin Lee, Edson Barboza, Donald Cerrone, Rafael Dos Anjos, Anthony Pettis and many more.
Ferguson’s last loss came last weekend against former UFC fighter and MMA legend Nate Diaz, whose next chapter after the UFC career comprises a lot of new things to try on, most likely doing exhibition matches and wearing a promoter’s hat. Diaz is the younger brother of MMA legend Nick Diaz. Both Diaz and Ferguson are former winners of The Ultimate Fighter series. Diaz’s wins include the likes of Ferguson, Gray Maynard, Jim Miller, Melvin Guillard, Anthony Pettis, Takanori Gomi, Conor McGregor, Michael Johnson and many more.
Tony Ferguson accepts that it’s cool to be around the Diaz brothers and he wishes them best
In the post-fight media scrum at UFC 279, Ferguson talks about his future in MMA, what went wrong in the final moments leading up to his defeat to Diaz and much more. In the midst of all, Ferguson confessed something that was quite surprising to see but shouldn’t be since both Ferguson and Diaz are proudly representing their home state of California.
“I got the invites to their camp,” says Ferguson “So I’m gonna be real with you, scoop or coo, I got my own camp which is awesome but I’m not gonna say no to them. Those guys are pretty f**king cool. I mean we run California, you know what I mean, we really. We do a lot for this sport, as much as we would want to fight we have to make things right, you know for the UFC and the contracts and stuff but, I wish him nothing but the best, him and Nick, in their own entire crew. They’re tough man, it’s cool sh*t to be a part of that vibe that’s right there…“ concluded Ferguson.
What do you make of Diaz’s proposal of bringing in Ferguson to train with him? Do you think that will help Ferguson a lot in the future? Do you think it’s high time that Ferguson should hang his gloves after 5 devastating losses straight? Where do you rank Ferguson amongst the best fighters of their time? Who do you want Ferguson to retire against if you are still invested in his active competition days?
