UFC 288 fighter pay: How much did Aljamain Sterling, Henry Cejudo and other stars get paid for amazing performances

Last weekend fight fans experienced one of the most anticipated fight cards UFC 288 which took place at Prudential Center, New Jersey. As expected the card delivered and gave the fans an amazing night to remember.
The whole card was stacked with some incredible showdowns including the welterweight co-main event fight between Gilbert Burns and Belal Muhammad. However, in the main card, Aljamain Sterling fought Henry Cejudo who made his UFC return after three long years.
Cejudo last fought in 2020 and announced his retirement and this fight against Sterling was for the title which he never lost. Nevertheless, both fighters put on a great show, and the fight went for five whole rounds. It was a very grueling fight with frequent back and forth and at the end of five rounds, Sterling was announced the winner via split decision.
How much Henry Cejudo and Aljamain Sterling made from UFC 288
Both Henry Cejudo and Aljamain Sterling are considered very popular with the capability of selling PPVs. Even after such a huge gap, Cejudo is still one of the biggest draws and before the fight, his hype was quite visible. Cejudo was pretty active during the promotion of the fight and he certainly used his ‘King of Cringe’ persona to get more eyes on the PPV.
As per reports, Cejudo received a base salary of $500K on top of it, Cejudo also got PPV shares which was another $500K. The former UFC double champion was able to make an estimated $1 million from the fight.
Aljamain Sterling on the other hand has yet again proved that he’s the deserving champion of the bantamweight division and has been part of some good PPV events. For this fight, the ‘Funkmaster’ got a base salary of $500K. Apart from that, the fighter also earned around $400k as PPV shares which made his total fight purse around $900k.
Belal Muhammad proved his haters wrong by defeating Gilbert Burns and secured his position as the number one title contender. He took home $465k. Burns on the other hand disappointed the fans but despite losing the fight and was able to make $920k. Other top earners from the event included Jéssica Andrade who made $225k and lost the fight against Yan Xiaonan. Matt Frevola defeated Drew Dober to take home $205.
UFC 288 Performance Bonuses
At UFC 288, Yan Xiaonan, Movsar Evloev, Diego Lopes, and Matt Frevola won bonus awards of $50k. The Fight of the Night bonus award was given to Movsar Evloev vs. Diego Lopes put together an amazing fight with Evloev winning the bout via unanimous decision. Yan Xiaonan and Matt Frevola both got the Performance of the Night bonus award for their respective wins against Jéssica Andrade And Drew Dober.
