“Push it back in” UFC Dr. David Abassi reveals a simple trick to solve Blake Perry’s horrifying nose injury at A1 Combat

Dr Abassi has worked as a cage side physician for more than a decade now
Blake Perry fell victim to a brutal knee that changed the shape of his face at Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat. UFC’s ringside Physician David Abbasi reveals that there was something the corner could have done to avoid the fighter walking back in with a disfigured nose.
Perry was scheduled to face Marcel McCain in a 3 round fight. In the very first round, Perry suffered a knee to the face that broke his nose leaving it disfigured. An injury eerily similar to Mike Perry’s (No relation) nose after his fight against Vicente Luque.
The bout was stopped at the end of Round 1, due to a doctor’s stoppage. However, Dr. David Abbasi feels Perry’s corner could have done a slightly risky move to make sure the fight continued.

Dr. David Abbasi feels Blake Perry’s corner could’ve improved on his nose inside the cage itself

Dr. Abbasi has seen the worst of the worst injuries MMA can offer right next to the cage. However, he revealed that the corner of Blake Perry could have done something to improve their fighter’s injury at least on the surface, to help with the aesthetics of it.
As weird as it may sound, the solution was simply to push the nose back to it’s place. “I hope the corner just pushes back the nose, push it back in” said the doctor reacting to footage of the injury and Perry’s corner working on it.
Dr. David Abassi was disappointed when the corner barely did anything for the nose and allowed their fighter to get back in as is. No one wonder it was immediately called off.
Later a video of Perry getting his nose fixed backstage would emerge and wouldn’t you know, the physician was doing just that, pushing his nose back into place. Blake Perry can be seen grunting hard but ultimately smiles through the pain as he steps on the long road to recovery. Mike Perry took almost 5 months to recover from a similar injury.
Do you think it would have helped the fighter if the corner had put back his nose in place? Would you have agreed with a doctor’s stoppage even if the nose looked fine on the surface? Let us know below!
