In a surprising turn of events, a seasoned UFC fighter has unveiled a startling revelation about Conor McGregor‘s recent gym. This happened following the circulation of training images over social media. The fighter stated, “I used to engage in heroin use within those very premises.” This revelation has added another layer of complexity to McGregor’s current troubles with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
McGregor’s highly anticipated clash with Michael Chandler is in doubt, after no prior confirmation from either side or the UFC. And without any official confirmation from UFC President Dana White or the organization itself, many doubt the showdown will even take place. The initial plans were to stage the fight before the end of 2023. However, McGregor is yet to enlist himself in USADA’s drug-testing pool, which has already caused a lot of controversy.
Recently, fans expressed their disappointment on social media, with many terming McGregor a phony for not complying with USADA regulations. With recent allegations of sexual assault this past week, McGregor’s troubles do not seem to end. Nevertheless, McGregor took to Twitter to share pictures of him training with close friend Dillon Danis at NYC Underground Kings gym.
While many mocked him or Danis, one particular reply caught the attention of UFC enthusiasts. It came from lightweight contender Jared Gordon, who made a stunning admission: “I used to engage in heroin use at that gym.” Gordon revealed that he had trained at the gym for a decade. When asked about his ability to pass USADA’s anti-doping tests, he disclosed information that has left the MMA community ablaze.
Will Conor McGregor versus Michael Chandler ever come to fruition?
“It’s been 7.5 years since I last used drugs,” Gordon said. “…USADA only screens for narcotics during fight week. A user can consume drugs throughout the year, excluding steroids, as long as they don’t test positive during competition,” he explained. Gordon has openly discussed his past struggles with drug addiction. His past with drugs and his recent comment only strengthen the case against McGregor regarding steroid use.
Conor McGregor is yet to enlist in USADA’s testing pool. It has fueled speculation that his highly anticipated showdown with Michael Chandler may never come to fruition. Chandler recently mentioned that his tests are done. The fighter revealed that USADA had conducted tests at his residence earlier in the week.
Should McGregor be unable to proceed with the planned bout against Chandler, it is highly likely that numerous contenders will step up to face Chandler. Already, Arman Tsarukyan has officially challenged Michael Chandler to a fight. Tsarukyan currently ranks # 8 in the UFC lightweight division. These recent developments suggest the possibility that Conor vs Chandler may not happen, at least not in 2023.
