Vicente Luque reveals friendly bet with Ian Garry for UFC 296
After agreeing to the fight, Luque and Garry recently shared audio messages exchanged on social media. Luque narrated an instance of his sense of humor. During one of their grappling sessions, he revealed how Ian playfully mentioned his love for Brazilian cuisine and challenged Luque.
The challenge was to engage in a light-hearted grappling round, and whoever lost via submission had to treat the winner in a Brazilian restaurant. Ian Garry mentioned this in Florida. Being someone who cherishes both good food and healthy competition, Luque readily accepted. He revealed their fiercely competitive session, and he secured a choke on Garry. So now, Garry owed Luque a meal. Vicente Luque said that he would aim to replicate that success by submitting him in the actual fight, meaning Garry would owe him two dinners.

Regardless of the outcome, it is evident that Luque and Garry share a profound mutual respect and would not let professional rivalry get in between their friendship.
