Until 2015, Aldo was the only featherweight champion in UFC history
On the occasion of Jose Aldo’s retirement, while many chose to focus on his inummerable accolades, we’d like more to look upon one his most endearing moments. This came along when he went in to buy his first suit.
Aldo was for a long time, the only featherweight champion in the UFC, a title he received when the WEC was purchased by the UFC, elevating his featherweight championship to that of the UFC’s level. His career up to that point alone would be enough for him to be remembered as a legend hence he was simply handed the UFC title when he moved to the org.
For this the UFC held a ceremony at UFC 123 for Aldo to be awarded the featherweight title, prior to this, Aldo went wardrobe hunting. Along with his then manager, Aldo visited a custom suit place and the happiness on his face was akin to that of a toddler.
For those brief moments in that store, the pride in Aldo’s eyes on being able to afford such luxuries was something most of us can’t comprehend. Throughout the entire ordeal, Aldo couldn’t help but be amused every time he stepped in front of a mirror with an additional piece of clothing on. For those fleeting moments, you could’ve been forgiven for not remembering that he was among the most dangerous humans on the planet.

Jose Aldo’s dark and desperate Childhood
This endearing video however has a very dark story that hides behind its shine. While Aldo doesn’t like to remind himself too much about his childhood, an inescapable scar of the past he left behind always stays with him, the scar on his face he received when he was dropped on a barbecue as an infant.
While the scar may look badass to anyone else, to Aldo it’s a reminder of where he came from. He had to leave his home at the age of 17 in order to make a career for himself in Mixed Martial Arts after giving up on his dreams to be a footballer. In the house where Aldo lived, food was scarce and certainly not a guarantee.

It came to a head when he started his MMA career and his coaches had to constantly enquire if he had any food that day or the day prior. It is from such squalor conditions that grew out a flower called Jose Aldo.
Throughout his career, he has been nothing but respectful towards his opponents and now that his retirement has become all but official it’s safe to say that Aldo changed his life around. Moreover having his child being born with the guarantee that they would not have to endure anything their father did as a child should be a very proud moment for him personally
