Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira' Son

For the third time in their careers and for the first time inside a UFC octagon, Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira will square off against one another. At UFC 281, in  Madison Square Garden, the two will square off for the middleweight championship.

Their history from their kickboxing days has added an extra flare to their impending championship rivalry. Pereira has won over the UFC middleweight champion in two kickboxing fights. The Brazilian posted a video of the aftermath of his knockout victory against Adesanya on Twitter back in September. As ‘The Last Stylebender’ recovers from his knockout, Pereira’s son can be seen making fun of him in the video.

Pereira wrote on Twitter, “I told them before not to let him in the ring [laughing emoji] (my son Alessandro after I knocked Adesanya out).”

The forthcoming battle is clearly more than just a title defense for “The Last Stylebender,” as he looks to redeem himself. With five consecutive title defenses under his belt and an undefeated record in the division, he has already established himself as the best middleweight in the UFC. His lone defeat occurred after he switched to light heavyweight in an effort to win two titles.

Prior to his eagerly awaited matchup with opponent Alex Pereira at UFC 281, Israel Adesanya is focused only to get his revenge. The only person who has successfully knocked Adesanya out will face off against him. This Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York, the pair will be the main attraction of a packed fight arena.

Adesanya has made some memorable walkouts in the past, but he said in an interview with TMZ Sports that this isn’t the time to act silly and that nothing exceptional should be expected. Speaking on the show he said, “Nah, not really. This is business. I feel like the way I handled the Costa fight as well, I just walked out there and just did my thing…It was business as usual. But I’ll say I want to make this a horror movie. I want to keep that theme. I want to make this a horror movie.”

Following a dominant victory over Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 the middleweight champion will return to the Octagon. Even though the champion was dominant in his fifth title defense, he had to cope with some criticism that he has been recently taking the easy way out and not trying to make his fights thrilling. ‘The Last Stylebender’ might get a chance to prove his haters wrong with his upcoming fight.
