Amanda Nunes must be on cloud nine and in all fairness, she has the right to act like she’s on the top of the world today. Just like the greats would do, Nunes bounced back from the adversity of the first fight against former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Julianna Pena to dominate the latter for five rounds in the rematch at the main event of UFC 277, therefore securing her status back as UFC’s double champ. Safe to say, Nunes is close to being the undisputed greatest women’s mixed martial artist of all time.

Nunes showed dominance over Pena in every department of the MMA game, whether it was grappling or striking. Nunes made sure that Pena’s way of rushing in for putting pressure is paid heavily with her check hook throughout the fight that knocked Pena down multiple times. In the end, when Nunes proved her doubters wrong, Pena was left with a huge chunk of her forehead missing, thanks to the vicious elbows in the ground and pound that ripped Pena’s skin, making her bleed throughout the latter half of the fight.

With her victory Nunes became the first fighter ever to regain her double champ status in the UFC

As said by Amanda Nunes throughout the fight week, she wanted to celebrate her win in the latest fashion where the winners of huge fights drink beer offered by the fans on their way back to the locker room. So as evident from the clip below (courtesy of MMA Fighting), as Nunes was carried on her shoulders by one of her coaches, someone from the front handed Nunes her well-deserved alcoholic treat!

What do you make of this latest tradition of fighters taking drinks from the fans? Is it cool or unsafe? Moreover, what did you make of Amanda Nunes’ performance in her rematch against Pena at UFC 277? Who do you think is next for Nunes? Do you think Nunes should appeal to the UFC to permit cross-promotional fights so that she can extend her legacy of fighting the likes of Cris Cyborg for the second time and former teammate Kayla Harrison who is one of the biggest hype trains in the MMA world right now?
