Legendary UFC referee Herb Dean is known for his calm demeanor, quick decision-making, and willingness to stand up to fighters. He is one of the most well-known referees in the MMA world as he has worked for the UFC and One Championship as a referee. Dean was also the referee for the fight between Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier for the BMF belt.
He has refereed many big fights in the UFC throughout his career. Dean was also a heavyweight fighter before transitioning into refereeing full-time. He was refereeing the match quite calmly until Gaethje caught Poirier with a kick to the head in the second round. This caused him to jump in between the two fighters in a hilarious fashion.
Fans are comparing the intervention of the referee to the famous signature move of WWE superstar, The Rock. The infamous move is known as the “Peoples Elbow”.It is a wrestling move in which the wrestler tucks their elbow into their side and lands with the point of their elbow on the opponent’s chest or face.
Dean is a highly respected referee in the world of MMA, and his contributions to the sport have been significant. Dean is also a certified instructor for the California State Athletic Commission and has taught refereeing courses all over the world.
