Soccer Superstars Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish of Machester City FC paid tribute to former UFC Superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov following their decisive victory over Bournemouth FC this weekend. In the post-game celebration, Haaland posted on social media, the Norwegian was seen hitting Khabib’s trademark ‘pointing to the sky.’
It has been over two years since Khabib retired, but his influence and impact lives on. Prominent football stars, such as Grealish and Haaland, imitating Khabib is a nice gesture to pay tribute to a legend. In the standings, Manchester City is still two points away (having played a game more) from Arsenal at the top of the English Premier League. Khabib, on the other hand, has also retired from coaching, citing family as the primary reason.
Khabib is a big football fan and dreamt of being a football player, but his calling was in combat sports. He retired as an undefeated fighter, a rare feat achieved by very few people. Haaland and Grealish, meanwhile, will look on to secure the Quarter Finals berth in the UEFA Champions League in the upcoming weeks.

Khabib was excellent as a coach, and under his tutelage, Islam Makachev became the UFC Lightweight Champion. However, Khabib was absent from Islam’s corner when he fought Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284. It remains to be seen if Khabib will return to coaching in the future.
Henry Cejudo understands why Khabib retired from Coaching
Former Double Champion Henry Cejudo understands the reason why Khabib retired from coaching. Time is an essential factor that takes coaches away from family. Cejudo, a father to a little girl, understands that his kid will grow up quickly and needs to be around her. A similar reason could be why Khabib retired from coaching is what ‘Triple C’ feels. He talked about it in detail on his YouTube Channel.
Cejudo will return after a hiatus of three years to fight for the UFC Bantamweight Championship. Cejudo is the only athlete to win an Olympic Gold medal and two division titles in the UFC. He will look to dethrone Aljamain Sterling and once again reign supreme over the Bantamweights.
Aljamain Sterling will look to defend his title against Henry Cejudo and remain as the King of Bantamweights. He defeated former Champion TJ Dillashaw last year in his title defence. Only time will tell if Cejudo can win back his belt.
