One of the most anticipated fights of the year is the upcoming Paulo Costa vs. Khamzat Chimaev at UFc 294. Both fighters are set to compete in Abu Dhabi on October 21st, which is just two weeks away. Ahead of his fight, Costa has shared some shocking news with his fans. Costa revealed that he had the surgery three weeks ago, providing him with a five-week recovery period. He also posted pictures of his surgical scar and a video demonstrating difficulties while trying to eat watermelon.
He wrote, “How strong are you?” he wrote on Instagram. “You never really know until you get tested by fire of life. I did surgery 3 weeks ago, the size of her was 10 stitches all over. But I know how tough I am and continue improving and overcoming myself. That didn’t stop me, nothing can stop me. Keep on training and even sparring. I’m so blessed, God gives me exceptional conditions, and surrounds me with great people.”
The fighter gave a motivating message by mentioning that all these adversities aren’t going to stop anything, as God is with him. The fighter didn’t give much details about his injury so it’s challenging to determine if he’s returning to action too quickly. However, it’s important to emphasize that undergoing surgery just five weeks before one of the most significant fights of your career might not be the best idea.
Many of Paulo Costa‘s fans are expressing significant concern about his fighting condition leading up to the bout due to the surgery revelation. However, in his recent posts, Costa has also shared video clips of himself engaging in sparring sessions and lifting weights, which could potentially be seen as positive indicators of his recovery and preparation for the fight.
