That was thanks to his skills on the microphone which complemented his fighting. “The Notorious One” was never afraid of poking fun at the person in front of him which made him one of the most entertaining fighters of all time. Ariel Helwani, the popular MMA journalist, was a victim of McGregor’s brutal jokes.

Ariel Helwani is a renowned MMA journalist and Conor McGregor was always in the mood to sit down for an interview with him. The Irish fighter has never shied away from speaking his mind with Helwani. However, in some instances, the fighter might have crossed the lines with his jokes. Helwani, despite being an advocate for playful banter, has always drawn a line when it comes to family.

During an interview, McGregor pulled a “fat joke” out of nowhere to insult Helwani’s wife. The MMA reporter might have laughed it off but let McGregor know how he felt. “I’m throwing a big party…Of course, you’re invited,” said the Notorious One.

“Not fat chicks, yeah? Don’t bring Mrs. Helwani,” said McGregor, catching the journalist off-guard. “Woah, Conor! Now you may have crossed the line, my friend. I will beat you down. I will beat you where you stand,” replied Helwani to the inappropriate joke.

Not long ago, Ariel Helwani hosted Dillon Danis, a former teammate of Conor McGregor on his MMA Hour show. Helwani absolutely went in on Danis and roasted the jiu-jitsu fighter. McGregor was asked by a fan online if he was okay with Helwani after taking multiple digs at his teammate.

The MMA journalist made fun of Dillon Danis, claiming the multi-millionaire fighter was no longer in touch with him. In a deleted fan interaction, McGregor, after confirming his support for Danis, backed Ariel Helwani, too. “No way, I rock with Ariel also! I always stay up on his content. I’m sure we’ll catch up in the near future also!” wrote the Irishman.

McGregor and Helwani have been collaborating for a long time. Even ahead of his historical boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather, McGregor made sure to permit Helwani for a special interview. The two might have traded some barbs in the past but are still on good terms with each other.
