“Little bit more freedom” – When Joe Rogan detailed why he made the UNCONVENTIONAL SWITCH to Texas from Los Angeles

Joe Rogan (L) talks about his move to Austin, Texas (R).

Joe Rogan has by far, the biggest reach podcast-wise, in the whole world. Despite being known predominantly for his association with the UFC, and his stints on adventure-reality TV, in the last decade or so, he has completely monopolized the podcast space.

Thus, it came as a shocker when Rogan announced to the world that he would be moving away from what he had called home for so long – that is, Los Angeles, and California; to Austin, Texas. The first change was the setting of his podcast, which sported a dramatic new look.

Joe Rogan has on occasion talked freely about why he made the switch. This is what he said about it, when he was about to move, back in 2020 – “I’m out of here.. I’m gonna go to Texas… I just want to go somewhere in the centre of the country, somewhere where its easier to travel to both places [The East and West of the US], and somewhere we have a little bit more freedom.

He delved deeper into it saying, “Also, I think, where we live, here in Los Angeles, it is overcrowded…but I think it’s exposing the fact that it’s a real issue, when you see the number of people catching Covid because of overpopulation… I think there’s too many people here.

Rogan, when describing freedom, was implicitly also referring to the political status of Texas. Joe Rogan is an outspoken Republican – his previous home was in one of the bluest states, California. Texas, on the other hand, is one of the most strongly republican favouring states. The republican stronghold also was not too strict with its covid rules(which included the strict adherence to mask-wearing), which he had spoken out against since the get-go.

However, that era of Joe Rogan is behind us now. Now that all the conspiracy theories and the speculation regarding Covid is over, Joe Rogan can get back to doing what he does best – thinking of aliens and commentating for the UFC.

The iconic commentary trifecta of Jon Anik, Daniel Cormier, and of course, Joe Rogan is back tomorrow, to guide the fans play-by-play through UFC 281. And, what a ”sound for sore ears” – that is, it has been approximately two months since we last heard the trio take us through a PPV. The most recent time Joe Rogan commented was at UFC 279, where Nate Diaz exited the UFC in emphatic fashion.

UFC 280 was held in Abu Dhabi, and because Joe Rogan covers only PPV events in the United States, he was missing from action. However, fans get to relish his voice and analysis once again when he sits down to take us through UFC 281.
